What is the negative side of Fraud Alerts?

Fraud alerts may in some cases stop you from getting instant credit.  In this fast paced world we live in with so many alluring offers at every turn it could be frustrating for consumers to have to wait for credit approval.  When was the last time you saved 30% on a purchase for opening credit at a store?  How nice to be able to get that wonderful savings.  If you had a fraud alert you may have to wait for the approval.  Some stores like Bloomingdales will call you within minutes. This will probably become the norm in the not too distant future. More and more consumers are protecting their credit these days. If creditors want instant profits they will have to start reacting promptly to all applications (even the ones with fraud alerts). The only downside to a fraud alert is having to wait for approval. It seems like a small price to pay for credit protection.
