Trans Union is now clearly stating a 30 day free trial with a $14.95 monthly charge there after. The part of this that is obviously missing is that consumers will automatically be billed $14.95 if there is no cancellation. The advertising can still be construed as confusing. Not everyone realizes that “there after” means automatically.
It seems these monitoring companies are making major profits for, whatever few months or years of monthly monitoring, billed to consumers who are unaware of the automatic fee’s they signed up for. This seems to be tricky and unethical and it is a shame that big business is still able to continue victimizing the public. The changes that have recently forced the bureaus to be transparent are not strict enough to make practices upfront and clear.
