Sirius and their billing practices?

Recently a client of mine told me a story about an experience he had with his Sirius satellite radio account.  He was offered a choice of his monthly fee being automatically deducted from his credit card or having a physical bill sent to him by mail for an extra few dollars a month.  He decided to take the physical monthly bill.

A few months later he noticed he had not received a bill from them and had it in his mind to call them and find out what had occurred.  Within a few more days he got a notice that the payment was late and the account would go to collection if he didn’t contact them and pay it immediately.

When he called he was told that the company no longer sends out physical invoices and he must use his credit card for an automatic deduction monthly. He asked why he was never informed of this change and demanded any damage to his credit report be repaired. He is now ordering his credit report to see if it is reflecting the true history and will let me know of his findings.

The point is to make sure you find out why you are not getting a bill if you know you should have. It is not worth getting a late payment, even if there might be a chance the company completely forgot your account exists, if you do get the late payment your score can reduce up to 100 points.
