One of the 2010 credit card rule changes is limitations on credit card issuers ability to increase interest rates. This does not mean we are in the clear and no longer need to concern ourselves with our rates rising. It couldn’t be furthest from the truth.
If we have promotional rates our interest will, of course, increase when the time limit is reached. If we have variable rate credit cards and if we are late on payments with any creditor on our credit profile we will see rates hike up as well. Creditors will have to give us a 45 day notice of these changes in advance.
