Who has been looking at your Dun & Bradstreet Credit Reports?

As the economy has changed and businesses have failed, more and more companies are checking Dun & Bradstreet credit profiles.  We are finding that the majority of companies making decisions when using business to business services are reviewing D&B credit reports first.  It used to be, for the most part, that when extending credit Vendors  would check D&B credit profiles before approving a business.  The very large companies reviewing bids would also check business credit as well.  Nowadays before hiring a company's services D&B credit reports are being pulled and analyzed to make sure the service provider will be around long enough to fulfill their obligation if hired.

These days it is commonplace for businesses of all sizes to use credit checks in their everyday transactions.  If you are a business owner and would like to hire a Marketing or PR firm, Internet phone provider, IT Company, Advertising firm, Employment Agency, Web designer, or even printing company how do you know if they are a sound and stable organization?  If paid and hired today will the company be gone in a month due to any number of problems that arise in this precarious business environment?  It makes perfect sense to check and see if a company's business profile reflects the kind of secure and stable entity that one would want to depend on.

What would happen if you hired a company today, supplied them with signed contracts and a large retainer, and 3 weeks later they were out of business?  Does this happen?  The answer is yes it does and it can.  This is why more and more businesses are looking at D&B credit reports before investing money in retaining the services of other companies.  In today's business world companies of all sizes are reviewing reports before signing on the dotted line.  In the last six months we have had more and more calls from businesses that had score drops recently, due to receivables coming in slowly, and were kicked out of Wal-Mart.  They were panicked and shocked at how swiftly their business was put into a tailspin.  Companies that have thrived on the use of credit suddenly are being denied by Vendors and are finding they cannot function in this new environment.

What is a company to do?  There are many ways to improve Dun & Bradstreet credit and we at NSA increase these scores daily for many different types of businesses with all kinds of credit issues. This can be done in as little as 2-3 weeks in some cases. Good business credit scores and indexes are made up of a variety of factors. Some of them  include:
1. Payment experience
2. Vendors
3. Variety of Vendors
4. Vendors' activity
5. Financial stability
6. Payment patterns

Not only can slow payments, collections, and judgments be removed but new patterns of payment can be manipulated to allow big increases in Paydex Scores.  Paydex is the D&B score that indicates a business' pattern of payment experience.  Besides Paydex Scores, D&B measures a business's strength through other indexes and scores.  These scores include a Financial Stress Score, Commercial Credit Score, and a company size rating as well.  Feel free to call us if you have any questions or would like more information on how we can increase D&B scores.

In my work as a freelance, full charge bookkeeper, I had the pleasure of working with Tracy to repair a client's credit score to enable the firm to obtain a business loan. Tracy and her staff performed magic, and we were able to accomplish our goals in a very short period of time. I highly recommend North Shore Advisory, Inc.

Thanks again.

Best,
